What is the Knives Law in Spain?
According to Spain Royal Decree 137/1993, January 29, Regulation of Weapons that regulates the possession, use, sale, advertising, circulation, import and manufacture of what are considered bladed weapons, the following is indicated:
Articles stipulated as bladed weapons are legal for domestic use or as decoration or collection at home, except those PROHIBITED (automatic folding knives, karambit folding knives or fixed knives, rapier sticks, etc...).
Regarding its use in public, the following is considered:
FOLDING KNIVES: With BLADE equal to or less than 11 CENTIMETERS, they are totally legal, as long as they are used responsibly and in logical situations to use it, whether it is to carry out a sporting, hunting or leisure activity in which you need to use the knife. You cannot take it, even if it is a legal measure, to go to places of leisure (discos, pubs, concerts, sporting events, etc.), demonstrations or any other activity incompatible with carrying the folding knife, nor for personal defense. Folding knives that exceed 11 centimeters of blade can be sold, but only for decoration or collection purposes at home. Finally and in any case, the criterion of the agent of the corresponding authority will prevail, who will be the one who decides if, even complying with the legal measure of blade, we can take it or not according to the situation, state or attitude of the person, etc... Automatic folding knives and karambit are totally prohibited in Spain.
FIXED KNIVES: Those considered SPORTS fixed knives (hunting, fishing, throwers, etc...) of any size are legal, as long as they are used responsibly and in logical situations to use them, whether for sports, hunting or leisure activities. in which you need to use the knife. You cannot carry it habitually or to go to places of leisure (discos, pubs, concerts, sporting events, etc.), demonstrations or any other activity incompatible with carrying a knife, nor as self-defense. Finally and in any case, the criterion of the agent of the corresponding authority will prevail, who will be the one who decides if we can take it or not according to the situation, state or attitude of the person, etc... Knives with a double-edged blade and less than 11 cm are totally prohibited in Spain.
SCISSORS: Legal, as long as they are to carry out a justified professional activity. SWORDS: Legal only as decoration or collection at home or for the development of professional activities such as recreations, theater, etc...
